Hilary Rosen asked us to work with our paintings last week and to work with them to create more abstract works. I turned mine upside down for example. We were asked to us a narrow palette – ultramarine, cerulean blue, burnt umber, yellow ochre.
We were also asked to use different textures to create a range of marks – using: plaster dust, sand, liquin and trixotropic medium to create different glazes.
I did a second piece – drew more abstract shapes from my research drawings using cardboard. It created a very minimalist painting which I’ll develop next week.
