This is where we really got down to business. Had to learn how to put a vice on the table, choose a mallet, look at different kinds of tools.

We drew our maquette on to the wood. A bit strange as hard to imagine how it would translate.

Then carving. At first it was unbelievably hard, shoulder wrenching, hand aching., exhausting. Gradually became easier though – amazing to actually do something like this. Something exhilarating in doing something you thought was impossible. Very satisfying as well.
